2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 5-29-22

The incident was reported as a Still Alarm with a Fire Response (W/F), followed by a Box Alarm and multiple changes of quarters. The fire occurred on South Justine Cross Streets, specifically at the 1533 block of West 45th Street and the 1529 block of West 46th Street. The first alarm was called at 7:37 PM, and the initial response included Engine 49, Truck (Ladder) 33, Tower Ladder 39, Squad 5/5A, and C.V. 274. The Battalion Chief 6 was on scene. > At 7:42 PM, due to heavy fire from the rear of the structure and exposure concerns, the call was upgraded to a W/F response. Additional units like Truck (Ladder) 18 and Battalion Chief 15 were dispatched. By 7:44 PM, a Box Alarm was declared, bringing in Engine 39/50, Ladder 51, Battalion Chief 5/4, and EMS 456. A Change of Quarters was also initiated at that time. > At 7:54 PM, a 2-11 Alarm was activated, leading to even more resources being sent, including Engines 116, 16, 28, 65, Tower Ladder 5, Ladder (Truck) 15, Aerial Tower 8, S.O.C. 515, and EMS D.C. 4412. Battalion Chiefs 2 and 4 were also dispatched. Another Change of Quarters followed, with units like Engine 84, Engine 8, Engine 18, Engine 23, and others rotating in to support the ongoing operation. > This was a complex and challenging fire scene, with multiple alarms and unit changes, highlighting the coordinated efforts of the Chicago Fire Department."
