Calumet Park house fire, 7-21-14

Here's a report from Eric Haak:

The Calumet Park Fire Department was called to a structure on the 12400 block of South Honore around 7:20 PM on Monday, July 21, 2014. The first engine and ladder company arrived within two minutes of the call. Upon arrival, firefighters found the residents outside and heavy smoke coming from the front door. They quickly entered the home and located the fire in a back bedroom. Within three minutes of their arrival, the fire was under control and contained. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to other rooms or the attic. Additional help came from Posen, Midlothian, Merrionette Park, and Riverdale via auto-aid.

Eric Haak captured several powerful images from the scene, showing firefighters responding swiftly and effectively. The photos include firefighters entering a smoky home, flames bursting from a window, water hitting the fire as smoke clears, a firefighter climbing a ladder with tools, another working on the roof with an axe, and a HME fire truck on the scene.

These images give a real sense of the intensity and quick action taken by the emergency responders that night. It's a reminder of how critical rapid response can be in preventing more serious damage and keeping people safe.
