Causes and maintenance methods of steering system of off-road wide-body dump truck

A series of devices used to change or keep the car moving or reversing direction is called a steering system. The function of the steering system of the car is to control the direction of travel of the car according to the driver's wishes. The steering system of the car is critical to the driving safety of the car, so the parts of the steering system of the car are called security pieces. Both the steering system and the brake system are two systems that must be considered for safety in the car. Today, I will introduce the causes and maintenance methods of the steering system of the same heavy-duty vehicle.

The composition and working principle of the recirculating ball steering gear

Common faults in the power steering system include: heavy steering, different weights in the left and right direction, heavy heavy direction, oil leakage, deviation, steering wheel jitter, etc. The causes of the faults, detection and maintenance measures are shown in Table 1.

(1) The waste oil generated during the maintenance of the system needs to be recycled for centralized treatment;

(2) It is strictly forbidden to refill the waste oil into the steering system twice;

(3) Before the steering system is repaired, loosen the return pipe hinge bolt to prevent the hydraulic oil from sucking back from the return pipe.

Free travel inspection and adjustment

The vehicle does not move in place, start the engine, gently turn the steering wheel by hand, and visually measure the rotation of the wheel. If the steering wheel rotates at a large angle (about 30°), the wheel still does not move, indicating that the free travel is large, resulting in freedom. The reasons for the large stroke are: large free clearance of the steering column, large free clearance of the steering wheel, large gap between the steering wheel and the steering column, large gap between the yoke and the spline shaft of each connecting portion, and clearance of the ball pin.

Adjust the free clearance of the steering gear: loosen the hex nut (gap adjustment nut) on the rocker arm shaft and the side cover assembly, and rotate the adjusting stud with a flat screwdriver to eliminate the gap between the output shaft and the rack piston. After the adjustment is completed, tighten Hex nuts.

For other reasons, the free clearance of the system is too large, and the bolts, nuts or replacement parts are tightened depending on the situation.
