Europe vigorously fosters six leading markets

Resources, energy, and environmental pressure are issues that cannot be avoided in the course of economic development. At the beginning of the new year, the European Commission proposed that all member states should focus on cultivating six leading markets that will play a major role in EU economic development by formulating relevant national policies and other measures to promote the healthy and stable development of the European economy. The six leading markets identified by the European Commission are: bio-based product markets, recycling and recycling markets, renewable energy markets, sustainable construction markets, protective textiles markets, and the Internet health market, which is closely linked to personalized health systems.
According to the European Commission, the reason why these six major markets are to be vigorously developed is because these markets are not only highly innovative but also able to meet the evolving needs of society, but also require strong innovation and industrial infrastructure support. It has also been a long-term project in Europe. Compared with other markets, they are more dependent on the development of various favorable conditions from the national level.
The European Commission has identified a five-year action plan called the Leading Markets Initiative (LMl) to support the development of six sectors. It is estimated that by 2020, the six markets can provide 3 million jobs in Europe, and the related business scale can reach 4500. One hundred million U.S. dollars.
Biobased products, one of the six leading markets, usually refer to products made from renewable biological raw materials such as various crops and trees. The long-term growth potential of such products will depend on their ability to replace fossil products and whether they can meet various end-use requirements at competitive costs. The European Commission’s action plan for such products will support the development of innovative technologies and formulate performance standards and application targets for such products to ensure their quality and provide consumers with relevant information. In the long term, the development of such products will reduce European society’s dependence on fossil products, while also reducing pollutant emissions. The European Biotechnology Industry Association is very supportive of LMI because it will greatly promote the development of biobased products such as enzymes, biochemical building materials and bioplastics.
The development of a renewable circulatory system can, on the one hand, reduce the amount of waste handled while reducing the consumption of natural resources and improving energy efficiency. At present, the European renewable recycling industry has an output value of 25 billion euros, and employs about 500,000 people, accounting for about 40% of the world's total recycling economy. In the future, Europe will further develop relevant policies to encourage the development of renewable recycling industries, and will introduce more effective methods and technologies through technological innovation to further reduce costs and reduce the consumption of energy and natural resources.
The renewable energy industry in Europe currently has an output value of 20 billion euros, accounting for 8.5% of Europe's total energy demand, providing 300,000 jobs for the society. The European Commission has proposed in March 2007 that it is necessary to vigorously develop the industry. By 2020, renewable energy will account for 20% of European energy consumption.
The construction market currently accounts for 10% of the European economy. The employees of the industry account for 7% of the total European social workforce, and it also accounts for 42% of European energy consumption. In addition, 35% of total greenhouse gas emissions in Europe also originate from the construction industry. It can be seen from this that there is ample room for development in the sustainable construction market supported by innovative technologies.
Protective textiles can be used to make work clothes (bullet-proof vests, fireproof suits, anti-bacterial suits, anti-radiation suits, etc.) with various protective functions, thereby protecting people from the various risk factors in the working environment. It is estimated that the market value of this market in Europe amounts to 10 billion euros, and there are 200,000 direct and indirect jobs related to the products and services in the market.
The most important part of the Internet health market is the so-called Internet health tools. It means that with the help of the Internet, health and medical departments and experts can provide people with various personalized solutions including products, systems, and services. It is said that if Europe does not make major reforms in its medical service system in the future, including the failure to make better use of Internet health tools, the acceleration of the aging trend will lead to a substantial increase in the expenditure on health care in Europe, and the proportion of GDP will be from the current 9 % increased to 16% in 2010.
