European chlor-alkali industrial output slightly decreased in April due to a decrease in exports of caustic soda

According to foreign reports, Europe Chlor-Alkali Manufacturers Federation Euro Chlor recently reported that in April this year, European chlorine production was 890,265 tons, a decrease of 1.6% from 904,636 in March. In April, the production of chlorine in Europe also increased by 6.3% compared with the same period of last year. In April 2006, the output was 838,159 tons. However, the average daily production in April was 29,676 tons, which was 1.7% higher than the daily average of 29,182 tons in March.

In April 2007, a total of 46,619 tons of caustic soda were exported in Europe, an increase of 47.7% from the 31,564 tons exported in March; however, it was 0.25 percent lower than the 46,736 tons in April 2006. The average monthly exports of caustic soda in Europe from January to April this year was 38,840 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.4% from the previous month's average of 41,495 tons.

As of the end of April, the inventory of caustic soda in Europe reached 322,282 tons, an increase of 19,784 tons from 302,498 tons at the end of March, but 17.3% higher than the 274,720 tons in April 2006.
