Megan lead zinc ore beneficiation plant
The Meggen lead-zinc mine of Sachtleben Berabau GmbH is located in the southern part of the Ruhr region of the Federal Republic of Germany. The mining field has been produced for over 100 years. Introduced here is the concentrator that was put into operation in January 1963.
Mining is segmented with trackless equipment. The annual ore output is 870,000 tons and the ore depletion rate is 20%. In order to reduce the production cost, the non-mineral waste rock is pre-sorted by heavy medium, so the ore processed by the flotation plant is 710,000 tons per year.
Deposit and ore
The Megan deposit is a primitive sedimentary rock that was produced in the Devonian limestone, hard sandstone and shale mineralization zones. The average thickness of the deposit is 3 meters.
The ore consists of 85% sulfide ore and 15% gangue. The main useful minerals pyrite, 67%, 16% sphalerite, galena 2%, a small amount of white iron and trace mineral brass. Very fine sphalerite and galena are embedded in large pyrite. The gangue is mainly a silicate mineral. The ore grade: zinc 8.3%, lead 1.2%, iron sulfide (FeS2) 65%.
