Working fire in Oak Park, 11-3-15

This is from Josh Boyajian:

The Main Fire Alarm Office (MFAO) dispatched the 18th Battalion to a silent alarm at the corner of Rice and Austin around 7:30 PM on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015. Just 30 seconds later, Oak Park was notified of a structure fire at the same location, with the caller reporting smoke and fire coming from the third floor of an apartment building. Battalion 18 arrived first and informed the MFAO that there was a fire on the third floor of a three-story apartment building on the Oak Park side of the street.

Engine 96 quickly responded and took the lead. Truck 29 was the first arriving unit and they raised the main line to the roof. The fire was already active on the third floor, and it looked like a serious situation. I arrived after the fire had been knocked down, but it was impressive to see both departments working together seamlessly at the scene. Here are some photos from the night.

These images capture the effort and coordination between the Chicago Fire Department and the Oak Park Fire Department as they tackled the blaze. It’s always inspiring to witness the teamwork and dedication of first responders under pressure. If you’re interested in seeing more, feel free to check out the full gallery below.
