Chicago Still Alarm fire 8-23-13

This is from Dan Shevlin:

3622 Chicago Avenue. A 3-story building, 50 x 75 feet, with businesses on the first floor and apartments above. The incident was reported at 06:04 hours. Smoke was reported by 95. Company 44 connected to the hydrant on the southwest corner and deployed a 2.5-inch line to the rear. Truck 26 was assigned to sector 2. A large pile of debris was found on the first floor at the back of the building.

Companies involved: 44, 95, 346, 336, 242, Rit, 345, 237, 552, 271. Battalion 13 was occupied with a SWAT team warrant at the time.

From what I could gather, it looks like a pretty quick response. The fire department was on scene early, and they had multiple units working together. The location seems to be a mixed-use building, which can make things more complex during a fire. It's good that they managed to get water on the fire quickly, especially since there was a lot of smoke reported.

I'm guessing this wasn't a major blaze, but it still shows how important it is to have proper fire safety measures in place, especially for buildings with both commercial and residential spaces.
