China National Heavy Duty Truck III is a non-continental Ministry of Industry and Information

The Ministry of Environmental Protection said that it will strengthen its engine production consistency check

The electronically controlled H pump + EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) engine developed by China National Heavy Duty Truck for 3 years is being questioned by the industry. It has even been rumored that the competent authorities have hesitated about the technical problems of the EGR engine and stopped approving part of the application for EGR engine production. Business.

On November 3, Li Wanli, Director of the Coordination Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, denied this. “We did not receive an EGR engine application from one of the engine companies mentioned above. Therefore, there is no question of non-approval.” At the same time, they expressed their reluctance to comment on the current controversy of EGR engines.

The EGR engine is lower than the current high-pressure common-rail engine by more than 10,000 yuan, and this has led to a continuous "war of words" in the heavy-duty truck industry regarding two technical routes.

EGR stop approval rumor

After the official implementation of the National III emission standards on July 1 this year, all commercial vehicle companies have launched their own "State III" products. China National Heavy Duty Truck launched the H pump + EGR technology engine and obtained approval from the relevant national authorities. Most companies such as FAW, Dongfeng, Shaanxi Auto, Auman and Hongyan have adopted the high pressure common rail technology line.

China National Heavy Duty Truck's EGR engine is 10,000 to 12,000 yuan lower than a high-pressure common-rail engine, and EGR engines are quickly recognized in the market.

At present, among the sales of heavy truck companies, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group III has the largest sales volume, accounting for 80% of its total sales. However, other companies' high-pressure common rail vehicle III models do not have such good luck due to high prices. , State III models only account for 50% to 70% of its total sales.

This also ignited the interests of the industry, "high-pressure common-rail camp" accused China's heavy truck EGR engine is false "State III", during which rumors repeatedly EGR engine will be checked and face the risk of delisting. In July of this year, there were rumors that the National Development and Reform Commission pointed out that heavy trucks must adopt electronic control technology to achieve national III emissions, and would conduct a comprehensive verification of EGR technologies that did not meet this requirement. China National Heavy Duty Truck EGR products are facing destiny of delisting.

However, there were published rumours that the State Development and Reform Commission convened a meeting of 16 commercial vehicles and parts and components companies, and finally reached an agreement: For the State III vehicles that have already passed the announcement, they do not need to pass the new national verification plan again. Verification. There have been further rumors that the competent authorities have already begun to hesitate to approve EGR engines, mainly because of the relatively large number of technical disputes.

"Next step we will increase the inspection of the consistency of EGR engine production." Li Xinmin, Deputy Director of the Pollution Control Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, said, "But the EGR engine does not comment." Li did not say that the environmental protection department has stopped the EGR engine. Approval.

In an interview with this reporter, Sinotruk related persons said that Sinotruk firmly believes that its EGR engine is tested and approved by the state, so there is no problem.

Continue technical dispute

The "high pressure common rail" camp believes that the Chinese heavy truck H pump + EGR technology is "false country III", the reason is that this technology is based on the national II mechanical pump, the use of electromagnets to control the mechanical pump rack, the oil valve, Made of simple electronic fuel injection pump plus EGR exhaust gas reprocessing system to reduce exhaust emissions.

If so, the injection pressure increased by the mechanical pump is not significantly higher than that of the original mechanical pump, that is, the injection pressure cannot be increased sufficiently. Therefore, the emission performance of the engine is limited to be improved, but the power and economy as well as the entire vehicle are limited. The driving performance has improved, which does not truly meet the national III emission standards.

"The engine adopting H pump + EGR technology may meet the national III emission requirements on the bench test, but the production consistency is very difficult to guarantee," said Yan Xuebin, deputy general manager of Foton Motor and president of the Institute of Automotive Engineering. If its EGR valve is open, according to current Chinese oil products, reliability will surely be a problem, and the engine will be eroded within 6 months." Because domestic diesel has high sulfur content, it will go back through EGR. After the cylinder, sulfur will turn into sulfuric acid corrosion engine.

However, in response to these doubts, China National Heavy Duty Truck Co., Ltd. stated that the heavy-duty EGR engine of Sinotruk was brought to the market after two years of experimentation by the Tianjin China Steam Wet Research Center. At present, the possible problems with the engine are only speculations.

"Because domestic diesel does not fully meet the national III standard, but in the process of detection by the relevant departments, EGR engines can indeed use State II's oil to meet the national III emission standards," said Ni Guixiang, Deputy Minister of China National Heavy Duty Truck Enterprise Culture Construction. At this point, high-pressure common-rail engines can also be achieved."

Ni Guixiang said that the detection of EGR engines in Tianjin at that time was a completely open process. The relevant departments also proposed that if there is disagreement with the EGR engine, it can be proposed. However, Sinotruk has not received any other technology from this company so far. Views.

Although the controversy over EGR engines in the industry continues, many companies have begun to develop and produce EGR engines under the precondition of approval. It is understood that the EGR engines developed by FAW, Weichai, and Yuchai are also expected to pass the bench test or be available on the market in the near future. The Hualing Heavy Truck Co., Ltd. has already begun to sell the National III vehicle equipped with an EGR engine.

Another issue worth noting is that the price advantage of EGR engines has shaken the monopoly position of multinational giants such as Bosch on high-pressure common rail. Bosch has already launched a low-grade version of common rail products at a lower price than existing Bosch common rail products. From 500 to 600 yuan, Wuxi Bosch Automotive Diesel Systems Co., Ltd. even launched an "economical electronic control common rail system," the entire system has been cheaper than the original about 1,000 yuan. Prior to this, Bosch has quietly lowered the price of electronically controlled common-rail systems for medium and heavy-duty engines by 300 to 400 yuan.
