Shanghai petrochemical enterprises have increased investment in energy-saving technological reforms and achieved full tracking management of energy-saving technological transformation projects. For example, Yipin Pigment Co., Ltd., a Shanghai paint company of the Huayi Group, which was included in the pilot demonstration of the city's clean production activities, has improved its product quality and grade through the implementation of cleaner production programs, and has been expanding exports while achieving energy conservation. Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone is a banner of energy-saving and emission reduction in the Shanghai Chemical Industry System. In 2009, the total energy consumption of the ethylene industrial chain in Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone decreased by 2.91% year-on-year, the “energy consumption share” decreased from 55.5% to 46.6%, and the industrial water reuse rate was 98%, both leading domestically.
