This report comes from Steve Redick.
Niles responded to a technical rescue call last night in the 8500 block of N Olcott. From what I could gather, a worker became trapped in a trench collapse during a construction project in front of a home. The Niles aerial ladder was on scene and had a block or hoist mechanism attached, though it wasn’t being used at the time I arrived. I noticed some shoring in place and a sewer sucker was actively in use. The victim was successfully rescued approximately 90 minutes after the incident began and appeared to be in good condition. I managed to capture some great photos of the operation as well.Steve

It looks like multiple units were involved, including the Niles Fire Department, Glenview FD, and a MABAS division. The scene was pretty intense, but everything went smoothly, and the worker was safely rescued. It’s always impressive to see how quickly these crews can respond and handle complex situations. The photos show just how serious the situation was and how well-equipped the teams were for the job.
