From the CAD:
11:28AM on Thursday, April 24, 2014. TRT3 has been dispatched to CFS:13 Mutual Aid. Location: 3980 Triumvera Drive, GV NM, APT#: GRID:9999. Date/Time: 04/24/2014 11:28:29. From RED CTR.
This was a call about a car that crashed into a building. I didn’t hear the Glenview dispatch, but I heard RED Center sending Engine 1 and TRT3. I was on Central Road heading to NIPSTA for a MABAS meeting, so I took it in cold. Upon arrival, I noticed the car had crashed into the garage and there was a strong smell of natural gas in the area. I parked about 100 yards or more away from the incident. GV had a line laid out and was working to secure the gas leak. I’m not sure if anyone was injured. As soon as I arrived at the command post, Battalion 6 returned TRT3, E1, and some GV companies.

I remember the scene being pretty tense. The smell of gas was strong, and you could tell they were taking it seriously. It’s always strange when you get called out for something like this while you're on your way somewhere else. I didn’t stick around too long, just made sure the situation was under control before heading back on my way. It’s one of those calls that you don’t forget quickly. The pictures show how close the car was to the building, and you can see the fire trucks responding. Definitely a reminder of how fast things can go wrong.
