This is from Steve Redick:
I responded to an unusual incident yesterday on the outbound JFK Expressway near Kimball. A semi-truck collided with a retaining wall and rolled off the elevated portion of the road. The cab separated from the chassis, which remained hanging over the lower roadway, while the cab fell onto the street below. The driver was reportedly trapped under both parts of the wreckage, which were both on fire.
By the time I arrived, the driver had already been extracted and was on his way to the hospital. He wasn’t pinned anymore, but he was seriously injured. I witnessed part of the recovery efforts using a large IDOT wrecker and some operations by Lin-Mar Towing. A hazmat team was also on scene due to fuel and fluid leaks from both the upper and lower sections of the crash site.
