China and the United States will comprehensively improve civil aviation relations

From August 21st to 23rd, Li Jiaxiang, deputy director of the Ministry of Communications and the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, led a delegation to the United States and held talks with U.S. Federal Aviation Administrator Hulta. The two parties reviewed and combed the cooperation between China and the United States in the field of aviation safety, clarified the direction and focus of future cooperation between the two sides, and decided to upgrade the existing cooperation to a higher level of partnership.

The two sides jointly confirmed that the two civil aviation authorities will further deepen exchanges and cooperation in air traffic management, aviation safety information sharing, airworthiness certification, strategic initiatives, aviation energy-saving and emission reduction, and international cooperation, so as to promote China and the United States and even the world. The two parties also agreed that the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States will use the mechanism of the Standing Committee on China-America Aviation Cooperation (ACP) to conduct regular high-level exchanges. After the talks, Li Jiaxiang and Huerta jointly signed the minutes of talks between the two CAACs aimed at establishing a Sino-American civil aviation partnership. Subsequently, Li Jiaxiang and his party also visited the American Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC).

During the visit, Li Jiaxiang also held talks with the Minister of Transportation of the US Department of Transportation, Mendes, and exchanged in-depth views on the development of air transport relations between China and the United States. The two sides agreed to hold a new round of Sino-U.S. aviation talks in the first half of 2015 to explore the possibility of further expanding the market access of China's air transport.

Li Jiaxiang also convened a meeting of heads of major airline offices in the United States to investigate the development of the air transport market in China and the United States.
