Five areas will receive priority support

It is understood that given the prioritization of energy use and cooperation, China will focus on supporting basic science and applied technology research in five major areas.
Solar power and solar building integration. Solar thermal power generation and photovoltaic power generation systems, thin film solar cells and other new types of solar cells, solar integrated buildings, low-cost, low-pollution solar high-purity silicon material production technologies, solar thermal utilization technologies, industrial applications, etc.
Biomass fuel and biomass power generation. Non-grain energy crops, cellulose feedstock ethanol, energy forestry plants, biodiesel, biomass-forming fuels, biomass gasification, biogas, and power generation.
wind power. Assessment of wind energy resources, large-scale and high-efficiency wind turbines, offshore wind turbines and wind farm construction.
Hydrogen and fuel cells. Hydrogen production (solar energy, nuclear energy, etc.), hydrogen storage and hydrogen transfer technologies, new fuel cell and fuel cell vehicle technologies, etc.
Gas hydrate development. Gas hydrate exploration, development, storage, transportation and utilization technologies.
In order to promote the smooth progress of this "plan" and related scientific research, the person in charge of the relevant department disclosed that the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission will jointly coordinate relevant government departments, international organizations, and important scientific research institutions to establish a steering committee for international science and technology cooperation and launch an international Cooperation mechanism. At the same time, it recruits high-level experts in the field of renewable energy on a global scale, and establishes an international expert consultation committee on scientific and technological cooperation to provide advice and suggestions on the priority areas, key tasks, and cooperation methods of the “plan” for decision-making by the steering committee.
In addition, the country will also arrange special funds to attract funds from foreign governments and international organizations to jointly promote the implementation of the Plan. At the same time, it will attract international large-scale energy companies and other enterprises and private capital to invest in international scientific and technological cooperation on renewable energy and new energy.
