GM invests 380 million in next-generation pickups

A few days ago, the expansion of General Motors's Wentzville, Missouri plant (Wentzville) has officially started. GM has invested a total of US$380 million in the expansion of the plant in order to start production of a new generation of medium-sized pickup trucks at the plant.

GM did not disclose when the expansion of the Wentzville plant will be completed. It also did not disclose whether the plant will be put into production of other models.

Mark Reuss, president of General Motors North America, previously revealed that the new generation of midsize pickups produced at the Wentzville plant will no longer use the name "Colorado."

The Wentzville plant is located near St. Louis and produces models including the full-size Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana. In October last year, GM announced that it will add a second round of shifts to the plant.

In September last year, General Motors Corporation and the U.S. Automobile Workers Union UAW reached a four-year agreement. According to the agreement, GM will invest a total of US$2.5 billion in its US plant to retain or create 6,400 jobs. This general investment to expand the Wentzville plant is part of the agreement.
