[Shanghai Auto Show] Optimistic about 43 Taiwan Parts Manufacturers from China's Auto City Participating in Shanghai Auto Show
In a report by Taiwan's "Central News Agency," the "2009 Shanghai Automotive Industry Exhibition" kicked off on the 20th, drawing participation from 43 component manufacturers and a total of 87 Taiwanese companies. Despite the ongoing global financial crisis, these Taiwanese firms remain highly confident in the mainland's automotive market, showcasing their products at the event.
A representative from one of the participating Taiwanese groups stated that this year’s exhibition was a collaborative effort among local manufacturers. Their goal is to connect with potential customers and present high-quality, premium auto parts to the mainland market, aiming to capture new business opportunities.
According to sources, the exhibition did not show any signs of being impacted by the financial downturn. Many domestic and international companies, including those from Taiwan, actively took part, reflecting strong confidence in the mainland market from global players.
The source also noted that Taiwan's automotive industry has reached world-class standards, both in vehicle manufacturing and component production. These products are well-regarded by international buyers. With the growing automotive sector in mainland China and Southeast Asia, it presents a great opportunity for Taiwanese component manufacturers to expand their presence.
Statistics from the Taiwan District Vehicle Industry Association revealed that in 2007, the total output value of Taiwan's auto parts and components industry surpassed NT$147.9 billion, rising to RMB 152.6 billion in 2008—an increase of 3.18%. Export volumes have been consistently rising, with major exports including body system components, electrical parts, tires, and accessories. The United States remains the largest export market, followed by Asian countries, then Europe and other regions. However, the industry remains optimistic about the vast potential of the mainland market in the years to come.
