[Shanghai Auto Show] Optimistic about 43 Taiwan Parts Manufacturers from China's Auto City Participating in Shanghai Auto Show

According to a report by Taiwan's "Central News Agency," the 2009 Shanghai Automotive Industry Exhibition kicked off on the 20th, featuring participation from 43 component manufacturers, with a total of 87 Taiwanese companies showcasing their products. Despite the ongoing global financial crisis, these companies remain highly optimistic about the mainland's automotive market. A representative from one of the participating Taiwanese groups stated that this year's exhibition marked the first time many local manufacturers joined forces to present their high-quality auto parts and components. The goal was not only to attract potential customers but also to highlight the value of Taiwanâ€™s advanced automotive technology and secure new business opportunities in the mainland market. Interestingly, the event did not seem to be affected by the financial turmoil. Many domestic and international manufacturers, including those from Taiwan, actively participated, signaling confidence in the long-term growth of the Chinese market. Global players continue to see the mainland as a key destination for expansion and investment. Experts noted that Taiwan's automotive industry has reached world-class standards, both in vehicle manufacturing and component production, and is widely recognized by international buyers. With the rapid development of the automotive sector in mainland China and Southeast Asia, it presents a significant opportunity for Taiwanese suppliers to expand their presence. According to data from the Taiwan District Vehicle Industry Association, the total output value of Taiwan's auto parts and components industry exceeded NT$147.9 billion in 2007, rising to RMB 152.6 billion in 2008â€”a growth of 3.18%. Export volumes have consistently increased, with major exports including body system components, electrical parts, tires, and accessories. The U.S. remains the largest export market, followed by Asian countries, and then Europe. However, industry leaders believe the mainland market holds immense untapped potential for future growth.
