Waukegan is added to the site

The Waukegan Fire Department has officially joined the MABAS Division 4 listings, marking the last department in the county to be added—and it's a big one. With five fire stations and over 28 pieces of apparatus, Waukegan is one of the largest departments in the area. Each station is equipped with an ALS rescue unit, and four engine companies operate across the district. At Station 4, they have a 105-foot Pierce quint alongside Rescue 1644, ready for any emergency.

Waukegan also provides critical support to both Lake and McHenry Counties through its bomb squad, which operates from an annex at Station 1. The unit includes a containment vessel and is well-equipped for hazardous situations. In addition to the bomb squad, the department maintains a dive team, hazmat unit, a large squad, and a 6x6 ARFF vehicle stationed at the Waukegan Regional Airport.

The department’s fleet includes Seagrave and KME engines, a Pierce and Seagrave aerial, as well as Medtec, Wheeled Coach, and Taylor Made ambulances. These vehicles are essential for responding to a wide range of emergencies, from fires and medical calls to hazardous material incidents and technical rescues.
