Box Alarm fire in Calumet Park, 12/22/18

Here are some images from a fire at a Mabas Box in Calumet Park on Saturday morning, December 22nd, at 12320 S. Page Street. The fire was reported around 6:00 AM, and by the time the first units arrived, the back end of the building was already fully involved. The closest hydrant was over 1,000 feet away, so firefighters had to form a water relay to supply the necessary pressure for firefighting operations.

The scene was intense, with multiple fire departments responding to the blaze. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. It's clear that the lack of nearby hydrants made the situation more challenging, but the crews managed to bring the fire under control. These photos give a glimpse into the effort and coordination required during such emergencies.
