This just came in from Drew Gresik. There was a pretty intense fire at an alley garage located in the 5800 block of South New England Avenue on December 29th. The structure measured 20x20 feet, and it was fully engulfed when the fire crews arrived.
The responding units, including Engine 32 and Engine 127, quickly established two fire lines to combat the blaze. They also conducted a thorough overhaul to ensure that all remaining embers were extinguished. Engine 32 positioned itself on New England Avenue, while Engine 127 worked its way through the alley and exited via a gangway to connect to a hydrant on Newcastle Avenue. Backup support was provided by Tower 60, Truck 54, and Battalion 16.
Drew Gresik captured some incredible photos of the incident. In one image, you can see Chicago firefighters hard at work with their fire engine, ready to tackle the flames. Another shot highlights a firefighter holding a hose as he moves forward, determined to contain the fire. There’s also a great view of Engine 127 and Engine 32, both of which played crucial roles in managing the situation. One final photo gives us a clear look at the alley garage, showing just how intense the fire became before it was brought under control.
