Elgin firefighters’ union has filed a labor complaint against the city following an order for three members to trim their hair, which they had allowed to grow as part of a protest against their ongoing 25-month contract dispute. International Association of Firefighters Local 439 President Vince Rychtanek, along with Vice President Edward Hanson and Shop Steward Joe Villella, began letting their hair grow sometime after April 2015 to voice their frustration over the lack of progress in contract negotiations since January 2014.
