Early this morning, on December 29th, there was a significant fire at a 20x20-foot frame garage located in the 5800 block of South New England Avenue. Firefighters from the 16th Battalion were quickly on the scene, deploying two lines to tackle the blaze. After extinguishing the flames, crews conducted an extensive overhaul to ensure the fire was fully contained.
Engine 32 was stationed on New England Avenue, while Engine 127 worked from the adjacent alley, leading their hose lines through the gangway to a hydrant on Newcastle Avenue. The responding units included Engine 32, Engine 127, Tower 60, Tender 54, and Battalion 16. It was a coordinated effort, as these firefighters worked diligently under challenging conditions.
