Danny Gonzalez July 21, 1964 – August 1, 2013
It is with deep sorrow that the Lake Zurich Fire/Rescue Department announces the passing of Firefighter/Paramedic Danny Gonzalez, a dedicated member of our team for 13 years. Danny joined the department in August 2000 and quickly became an essential part of our fire family. His commitment to service and safety left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Danny was deeply involved in the Training and Safety Committee, where he shared his expertise by mentoring both new and experienced firefighters in fire science and technical rescue operations. He also successfully passed the lieutenant promotional exam and often served as an acting officer when needed. Additionally, he was a past President of IAFF Local 3191, showing his leadership and dedication to the fire service community.
Before joining Lake Zurich, Danny served with the South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District, where he began his fire service career. He also had a strong background in law enforcement, serving in the Kane County Sheriff’s Police Correctional Division. His service didn’t end there—he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and remained active in local veteran groups.
Danny’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, and his memory will be honored during the upcoming services.
