It was reported by Changhang Group that two 57,000-ton bulk carriers have officially begun construction at Qingshan Shipyard, part of China Changhang Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Corporation. This marks a significant milestone, as these vessels are the largest in terms of tonnage ever built in Central China.
The ships are being constructed for the Greek company Midway Shipping and Trading. The design was handled by the Shanghai Ship Design Institute, ensuring high standards of engineering and efficiency. Each vessel measures 189.99 meters in length, 32.26 meters in width, 18 meters in height, and has a draft of 11.3 meters. These specifications make them well-suited for long-haul cargo transport across international waters.
In recent years, Qingshan Shipyard has gained a strong reputation for delivering high-quality vessels. It has successfully completed multiple series of export ships, including 18,500-ton duplex stainless steel chemical tankers, 3,750-ton electric propulsion tankers, 12,000-ton bulk carriers, and 1,100TEU container ships. This latest project further solidifies the shipyard’s position as a key player in the global maritime industry.
