With the rapid growth of China's automotive industry, the auto parts sector has emerged as a promising field, offering numerous business opportunities. Among these, the automotive fiberglass industry—using fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP)—has gained significant momentum and is now a key player in this evolving market.
Sun Bohuai, chairman of the China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association, remarked, "The era of globalization in the automotive industry has arrived. It is no longer feasible for automakers to source all components domestically; they must turn to global resources, shifting from in-house production to international collaboration." In this context, China’s auto parts industry is experiencing a golden period. As environmental and resource constraints grow, lightweight and energy-efficient components have become a major focus for the global automotive sector. The development of advanced materials with high strength and new lightweight designs is becoming the preferred choice for automotive parts. Due to their advantages—such as being lightweight, easy to mold, corrosion-resistant, and highly customizable—FRP composites have become a popular alternative to traditional metals in the automotive industry.
As the global auto market becomes more competitive, vehicle quality demands are rising while cost pressures are decreasing. To meet these challenges, companies specializing in glass and steel or composite materials must continuously innovate and improve their technologies. Composite materials, once considered cutting-edge, are now replacing metal components in many applications, delivering better performance and safety at lower costs.
The 3rd China International Auto Body Exhibition (CAPA), organized by several key industry bodies including the China Automotive Engineering Society's Auto Body Technology Subcommittee, the China FRP Industry Association, and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, will take place alongside the Beijing Auto Show in 2006. It will be held at the Beijing China International Trade Center.
To promote the use of fiber-reinforced plastics and other composite materials in automotive parts, a dedicated exhibition area will be set up jointly by the China Fiberglass Industry Association and the CAPA organizing committee. Counties known for their auto parts industries, such as Wucheng, will participate, showcasing the strengths of China’s auto parts clusters. During the same period, the exhibition will also host the 3rd China International Auto Body Development and Mould Manufacturing Technology Seminar, along with several lectures on auto parts and FRP technology. Renowned experts and academicians from across the country will share their insights and experiences.
