SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 28 / PRNewsnet / - Advanced Analogic Technologies Incorporated (NASDAQ: AATI) has launched a new high-output, high-efficiency current output charge pump IC designed specifically for white LED flash applications. The AAT3172 offers up to 600mA of output current with dual adjustable sinking currents, making it ideal for mobile devices that require precise and efficient lighting control.
One of the standout features of the AAT3172 is its 32-level digital serial control interface, which allows designers to fine-tune brightness using just a single GPIO pin via Yannison’s AS2Cwire™ technology. This advanced interface not only simplifies design but also enhances flexibility, enabling users to switch between different lighting modes effortlessly.
Erik Ogren, Product Marketing Manager at Enron Logic, highlighted the importance of this innovation for next-generation mobile phone designs. “With the need for high-performance cameras in modern smartphones, having a compact, high-power IC that’s easy to control is essential,†he said. “The AAT3172 provides unprecedented control over LED flash performance, giving engineers the tools they need to deliver superior results across a wide range of applications.â€
The AAT3172 operates in three modes—load switch (1X), fractional mode (1.5X), and multiplication mode (2X)—to optimize efficiency while meeting the power demands of LEDs. These modes help reduce battery consumption during low-current operations, such as flashlight or ambient lighting, extending device life significantly.
Additionally, the device supports dual sink current, allowing system designers to use either a single or dual (independent cathode) flash LED configuration. Its programmable 32-stage single-wire interface also enables voltage regulation, offering added flexibility for system integration.
In terms of design, the AAT3172 requires only four external components: two 1.0 µF ceramic capacitors for the charge pump flying capacitors, one input capacitor, and one output capacitor. It also includes a thermal management system and a built-in soft-start circuit to ensure stable operation and protect against potential damage.
Pricing for the AAT3172 is set at $1.82 per unit for 1,000-piece lots. The device will be available in a lead-free, thermally enhanced 12-pin 3x3 mm TDFN package, making it a compact and efficient solution for mobile and consumer electronics.
