Global LED bulb shipments will reach $864 million in 2015

Annual shipments of OFweeLED bulbs and modules will increase from $864 million in 2015 to $4.1 billion in 2024. In North America, the Energy Independence and Security Act requires lighting bulbs to be no less than 25 efficient, and will be fully implemented in phases from 2012 to 2014, while Canada is not far behind. Due to the laws of physics, it is impossible for manufacturers to design bulbs with the same efficiency as fluorescent lamps or LEDs.
