U.S. Ambassador to China Visits Cummins East Asia R&D Center

On October 17, 2017, the new US ambassador to China Terry Branstad and Consul General of the US Consulate General in Wuhan Jamie Fouss visited the Cummins East Asia Research and Development Center in Wuhan. Ma Hongbin, General Manager of Cummins East Asia Research and Development Center, briefed the guests on Cummins's development history in China for over 40 years and the work of the East Asia Research and Development Center. The Cummins East Asia Research and Development Center undertook most of Cummins's local platform development and optimization in China. From engine to key components, to power products, the product technology platform developed by the R&D Center covers a wide range of markets including automobiles, construction machinery and electric power.

Founded in 2006, Cummins East Asia Technology R&D Center is Cummins’ 17th R&D institution in the world. After more than a decade of development, Cummins has grown to become the second largest R&D base in the world outside of the US technology center. With a total investment of nearly US$100 million and a technical team of more than 300 people, a total of 24 test benches, including emission tests, have been put into use, as well as pilot centers, control laboratories, applied mechanics, materials science, chemical analysis, and cold start-ups. Provides technical services including product design, verification and distribution, technology and product development, product support and product lifecycle management, and vehicle system integration.

Cummins pays attention to localization development because the purpose of Cummins's R&D is to "develop the most appropriate technology is the key." X Ray Machine

The system matches with metal ceramic X-ray tube and high frequency solid insulate industrial X-ray HT generator, it applies forced cooling system to make sure X-ray machine can normally continuous work for 24 hours. The dimension of this kind of small focus X-ray tube is half of traditional focus tube, geometry unintelligibility is an important factor which affects image quality, if focus bigger, correspondingly, geometry unintelligibility is deeper, and also makes image edge much more blur; if focus smaller, geometry unintelligibility is lighter, it can improves image quality at same time, also focus is smaller can inspect smaller failure which is favor to improve X-ray RTR inspection stability.

The controlling part of system is researched and manufactured by ourselves, the intelligent main control PLC works matches with touch screen, beautiful and complete functional stainless steel panel that can display and adjust parameters much more convenient. When high voltage of system opens, there will be red light alarming signal outside of protect door, here installs interlock devices between lead door and system, in the case of opening lead door, system will stop radiation at once to assure safety of operators.
